A dilapidated freighter found on Teth, the
Twilight became Anakin Skywalker's side project during the Clone Wars, as he embraced the challenge of souping up a tired old space transport into something that would meet his demanding tastes in star vessels. Skywalker and his new apprentice, Ahsoka Tano, commandeered the
Twilight when they needed to escape from a Separatist-stormed B'omarr monastery amid the spires of Teth. As the stubborn ship lifted off into the night skies, Republic vessels fired at it at first, not recognizing it as one of their own.
Skywalker took the vessel to Tatooine, as he was on an urgent mission to ferry Jabba the Hutt's son, Rotta, back to his father. In orbit over the desert planet, the ship was waylaid by Separatist P-38 starfighters, and crashed into the Dune Sea. Though zealous Jawas attempted to claim the wreck, Skywalker returned and salvaged his craft, modifying it to offset its age-induced shortcomings. Anakin would often use it on "unofficial errands" during the Clone Wars, when a ship bearing the Republic banner would be inappropriate.
The Twilight is a Corellian G9 Rigger freighter, one of the first ships of its class built with a hyperdrive. It had previously belonged to Ziro the Hutt, and was used to smuggle illegal spice through customs checkpoints. Its spacious cargo hold includes a magnetic field to allow for outer space transfer of goods, and a tow cable to winch in heavy containers. Its primary engines are located on outrigger pylons and struts to maximize cargo space within the hull.
